This approach balances traditional techniques with modern precision, ensuring wines of outstanding quality while respecting the environment and the people who help produce them.
Frans K. Smit
Crafted in limited quantities, these two flagship blends honour the legacy of former Cellar Master Frans K. Smit, whose dedication shaped Spier's winemaking journey. One red, one white - each vintage a rare expression of skill and terroir, sought after by collectors worldwide.
Frans K. Smit Varietals
White
Rounded, creamy and beautifully complex, notes of tropical fruit and elderflower merge with subtle citrus notes. The palate reveals vanilla hints and bright acidity, leading to a concentrated, persistent finish.
Red
A bold blend led by Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Deep layers of dark fruit and graphite notes emerge from structured tannins. This is a serious wine that will only improve with time.

Sauvignon blanc
The Seaward Sauvignon Blanc has rich aromas of green figs, grass and ripe tropical fruit, following through to a lively palate of prominent fruit.
Chenin Blanc
This chenin blanc has subtle peach and pineapple nose with notes of white pepper, and golden apple to finish.
Chardonnay
This Chardonnay's creamy palate offers fresh citrus and nectarine with well-integrated vanilla on the finish.
Shiraz
An elegant and rounded shiraz with perfumed notes of violet, black cherry and baked apple which follow through onto the palate. Richly fruited with a lingering, salty finish.
Cabernet Sauvignon
The Seaward Cabernet Sauvignon is medium- to full-bodied, showing blackcurrant, blackberries, plums and cedar notes. The rich and complex middle palate and balanced freshness are complemented by sweet oak.
Pinotage
The Seaward Pinotage serves up lashings of rich black cherries and mulberry elements, followed by a rich, complex mid-palate with that tell-tale allspice and vanilla aroma Pinotage delivers.

Albarinho
A rare find in South African vineyards, this Spanish variety thrives in our Bottelary Hills. Crisp apple and white peach notes lead to a distinctive saline finish that speaks of granite soils and cooling ocean breezes.
Sauvignon blanc
Fresh gooseberries, passion fruit and green pepper flavours and well-balanced acidity make it heavenly both on its own and when paired with seafood or summer salads.
Chenin Blanc
Crisp and unwooded, this bright Chenin offers fresh guava, pear and apple notes balanced by lively acidity. A true expression of our coastal vineyards.
Chardonnay

Chenin Blanc
From a heritage vineyard planted in 1984, this mineral-driven Chenin reveals layers of butterscotch and stone fruit. Natural fermentation and careful aging in French oak and ceramic eggs allow the terroir to speak clearly.
Rosé
Crafted from organically grown Shiraz, this silky rosé reflects the varied terroir of our Stellenbosch slopes. Early morning harvests capture natural acidity, whilst wild fermentation in French oak and ceramic eggs reveals layers of complex flavour.
Red Blend
A classic Stellenbosch blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Natural fermentation allows the terroir to express itself through layers of blackberry and chocolate, whilst careful oak ageing adds subtle vanilla complexity.
