We’re proud to introduce a refreshed look for our 21 Gables wine collection - an homage to over 330 years of winemaking on our farm.

A glance around our werf reveals a striking feature: 21 Cape Dutch gables, proudly crowning our historic farm buildings. These gables, the triangular peaks at the top of a building’s façade, are iconic elements of Cape Dutch architecture, adding both elegance and historical significance to the structures they adorn. Spier has the highest number of perfectly preserved gables on any South African farm, making our architectural legacy truly one of a kind. To celebrate this heritage, we’re delighted to introduce a refreshed look for our 21 Gables wine collection – a homage to over 330 years of winemaking on our farm.

The new design elegantly integrates nods to our architectural past. Each label now features the iconic gable silhouette, complemented by refined script typography and gold foiling, catching the light just like our gables do at golden hour. In a practical touch, the white wines in the collection now have cream closures, making them easier to spot on the shelves. At the heart of each bottle is our updated Spier logo, grounding the collection in tradition and modernity.

Since its inception, 21 Gables has become one of South Africa’s most revered single-varietal ranges, with each wine gaining distinguished accolades. Our Chenin Blanc, made from vines over 40 years old, proudly holds the Certified Heritage Vineyard status and was recently named at the Global Chenin Masters as one of the best in the world. Meanwhile, our Pinotage, shaped by cool ocean breezes from its proximity to False Bay, has earned a spot in the prestigious Absa Top 10. Not to be outdone, our Cabernet Sauvignon and Sauvignon Blanc are among our most awarded wines of 2024, further elevating the collection’s prestige.

Keep an eye out for the newly refreshed 21 Gables wines, appearing on shelves in the coming months. Whether you’re a long-time fan or a new admirer, there’s never been a better time to bring a gable to your table.
